International Sixmetre 6mR Norna IV

Norna  IV

Long Island Sound, New York (USA).

Norna  IV

De International Sixmetre 6mR Norna IV (sailnumber N56) is designed by Johan Anker and built in 1934/35 for King Olav of Norway.

Johan Anker is considered as one of the three most important Norwegian Yacht designers (alongside Bjarn Aas and Colin Archer)  and, more important, was very succesfulll in the 6-metre class.

Norna IV won the GKSS Jubileumregatta in 1935 as best boat and 1st place and has also won in 1935 the Seawanhaka Cup in Long Island Sound, New York (USA).

The Classic 6MR Norna IV was built in 1934/35 as a racer, special designed for open water. The hull and frames are heavier then usual.  The boat is very seaworthy and is pleasant to handle with waves and wind, she is really fast then. With light weather the boat is heavy.

The boat is under restoration since 2000. The hull is in a good condition (the boat has been kept inside).

It is up to the next owner to do the finishing touch to this beautifull project and let Norna IV touch the water again.
